Angels Trumpet Plant
The Angels trumpet plant is a beautiful flower, its nice fragrance brings on memory of the Garden of Eden, this amazing plant well known as Brugmansia or Datura opens after dark and remains open until the sunlight hits them the next morning. Angel trumpet releases from its flowers a really sweet perfume but also an intoxicating scent. As a warning the Angels trumpet plant is extremely toxic.
The plant prefers damp conditions with warm days and cool nights.
The seeds of these plants are slow to germinate; one trick to keep your plant growing up day by day is keeping it on humid conditions, the same goes for the seeds, if you want to propagate the plant. Got to be careful with the seedpod because of its extremely dangerous liquid, and should not be touched with bare skin.
The angel trumpet grows naturally in southeast Brazil and has been propagated trough south and Central America, Mexico and even in parts of south- central Florida.
The plant does best in full sun, in shaded situation it may grow vigorously but flowers will not blossom. Requires regular watering for best growth and flowering, but usually survives the dry seasons.
The angel trumpet known as Brugmansia too, is a semi wooded shrub or a small tree that grows from 1.8 to 4.6 meters tall, the leaves are generally oval in shape and the flowers are incredibly beautiful.
This exotic and tropical looking plant has that amazing scent that shakes our senses; has five species included the Datura genus. All parts of the angel trumpet are narcotic and poisonous. Some people have ingested or smoked it for its narcotic effects, and some of those people are not alive. This peculiar plant can be scorted by other garden plants to create a pleasing effect on your garden; it depends on where you live and of the weather. Some of the plants you may combine with this cute plant are: Hostas, Dianthus, Nepeta, Artemisia, Verbena. And if you like, why not mix and match any combination of these to find the effect that is pleasing to all of your senses.
If you already have an angels trumpet plant the first thing you have to do is keep it healthy, have to choose the place you are going to set it up and be sure the wind will not knock it over. The limbs of this plant break easily; and completing these steps you have a prosperous year (or more) with your plant growing and growing each day you take care of it. The plant needs a lot of water and you can use fertilizer at least two to three weeks so your plant will produce a maximum amount of good looking blossoms. A commonly used fertilizer is a good choice. Another piece of advice would be to give your plant some shade during the hot part of the day, even the angel trumpet prefers full sun, but the heat from the sun can result in slowed growth, sparse or no blooms and leaf loss. Another good tip for your Brugmansia is the selected ground to sow it up.
When you purchase your angel trumpet you'll know you have made the best selection for an ornamental plant, not just for the image that this plant gives to your yard or garden place, but you'll have the most amazing scent on your garden thanks to this plant called angel trumpet or Brugmansia.
