Yellow poppies
Today, Netherlands and Canada are leaders in consumption of yellow poppies as a legal drug mainly because they grow this kind of flowers, but as a spice or condiment in these cultures this flower has a minor role.

These poppies are almost “brothers” but they are not. Why not? Because of its alkaloid content. It must be kept in mind that yellow poppies have a great amount of alkaloids while the california poppies have a very low alkaloids content.
Yellow poppy’s medicinal characteristics: natural somniferous, it has alkaloids with sedative and hypnotic properties. In teas can be drunk more than three times a day, but if you still feel nervous it can be mixed with valerian or passion flower.
The yellow poppies are used in infusions against anxiety and nervous excitement. From a long time it has been used as an infusion, tincture, medicinal wine and antihysterical water against disorders with different origins: nervous, liver, neuralgic, of digestive and intestinal systems, and in all situations where it is necessary to calm down nervous and painful conditions. Camomile, mint or anise tinctures and the camomile elixir constitute just other of the almost magical recipes to calm people down when you feel prisoner of nervous agitation. The recommended dose is one spoonful after lunch and another one after supper or just before bedtime. The mint plant is other valuable medicinal plant to calm people down, it must me drunk after each meal. The anise tincture is also universally considered as an excellent sedative, the recommended dose is ten drops after each meal or evertime that disorders are evident. If your stomach is empty it is adviced to dilute the tincture in hot beverages such as camomile or mint with the aim of avoiding stomach damages.
